Netflix just added all 5 movies in the Jason Bourne franchise on October 1, 2026, making it one of the best movie series to binge-watch this weekend. Even in hindsight, the original Bourne trilogy, particularly The Bourne Ultimatum, still holds up better than either of the more recent films, the newest still being 2016’s Jason Bourne. Now, ten years after the latest installment and 24 years since the series debut, the complete Bourne movie series is finally available to stream on Netflix as of today.
The five films in the Bourne series achieved a lifetime box office gross of roughly $1.67 billion, with The Bourne Ultimatum setting the franchise’s high record of $444 million worldwide. Even though 2016’s Jason Bourne was the second highest-grossing of the 5-part franchise, raking in $416 million, there has not been another Bourne movie in over a decade. That said, series star Matt Damon continues to be in talks with director Edward Berger (All Quiet on the Western Front) and Universal about a future sixth Bourne installment.
Netflix Now Has All 5 Bourne Movies Ready To Binge This Weekend
The Jason Bourne movies have come and gone over the years on Netflix on a rotating basis, but all five are officially accessible right now as part of Netflix’s newly added October 2026 titles. The Bourne franchise has maintained its appeal throughout its 24-year history and is widely referred to as one of the best spy thriller franchises of the 21st century, along with Daniel Craig’s James Bond franchise and Tom Cruise’s Mission: Impossible series. Given the undeniable success, it’s hard to believe that Damon has yet to return to the franchise, but his roles in massive blockbusters like The Odyssey have certainly kept him busy.
If you’re new to the series, it begins with The Bourne Identity, in which Damon plays a man on the run from operatives and assassins who is suffering from amnesia. As he tries to piece back the puzzle of his identity, he realizes he is an elite CIA assassin named Jason Bourne. In The Bourne Supremacy, Bourne is forced out of hiding and uncovers a conspiracy, intending to clear his name for good. In The Bourne Ultimatum, Bourne searches for the answers within his origin story, diving into the CIA’s top-secret programs that made him who he is.
Following the original Bourne trilogy is a franchise spinoff, The Bourne Legacy, which centers on Jeremy Renner’s Aaron Cross rather than Damon’s titular character. Although Legacy felt like it might have spawned its own trilogy, it was the only movie made with Cross in the spotlight. Finally, 2016’s Jason Bourne reboot sees Damon’s return to the franchise to discover the truth about his father.
The Original Matt Damon Trilogy Is Still The Bourne Franchise’s Peak
While Jason Bourne proved to be a box office success and The Bourne Legacy provided an exciting new expansion, most would agree that the original trilogy still marks the franchise’s all-time peak to this day. The first two Bourne movies earned Rotten Tomatoes scores of 81% and 84%, respectively, and The Bourne Ultimatum ranks at the top of the franchise’s critical acclaim with a near-perfect RT score of 94%. By comparison, these scores blow those of the spinoff and reboot out of the water, which only earned RT scores of 56% and 55%.
All things considered, the entire Bourne franchise is still worth watching in full, especially now that they’re back on Netflix. That said, if you want to end on a high note, watching the original trilogy might be the best route. Given Damon’s recent enormous success with Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey, for which he is a frontrunner in the 2026 Oscars race, it’s also a great series to see how far Damon has come over the years and how long he has remained one of Hollywood’s most bankable movie stars.
