Musiala says ‘seizures are a part of life’ after Bayern midfielder collapses again

Bayern Munich midfielder Jamal Musiala says he is suffering from seizures which “are a part of daily life” after he collapsed again during a friendly win over Heidenheim.

The Germany international went down off the ball just four minutes after coming on as a substitute and was helped by team-mates and officials.

He first collapsed against Leipzig last weekend in extreme heat but there were no temperature concerns on Tuesday.

He was soon back on his feet and has reassured fans on Instagram that he is fit and well.

He said: “First things first – I am doing well!

“I have been diagnosed with temporary, brief, but easily treatable absence seizures caused by a neurological dysfunction.

“These can lead to the kinds of moments seen recently, like against Leipzig or now in Heidenheim.

“I know they look scary at first glance – but for me, they are currently just a part of my daily life. I am receiving the best possible medical care and feel very optimistic. FC Bayern and my inner circle are always by my side and supporting me along the way.”

The 23-year-old played for Germany at the World Cup after a long spell out with a broken leg.

Bayern won the friendly 4-2 with Luis Diaz getting on the scoresheet and England captain Harry Kane playing for the final half hour.

Bayern’s sporting director Max Eberl commented after the game, saying: “We knew and still know about it. When something happens there, like Christian Eriksen’s collapse, or now with Jamal, everyone understands that football is the most beautiful thing in the world and that it’s about something completely different.

“That’s a good sign and gives me a good feeling that we stand together as a society when something like this happens.”
