Major League Cricket (MLC) 2026 continued to deliver edge-of-the-seat action as the San Francisco Unicorns (SFO) locked horns with the Seattle Orcas (SO) in a thrilling contest. While both teams produced explosive batting displays throughout the evening, one moment of brilliance in the field stole the limelight during the death overs.
With the Orcas looking to squeeze out every possible run in the final stages of their innings, San Francisco produced a moment of exceptional awareness that quickly made the rounds on social media.
Harmeet Singh’s direct-hit sends Xavier Bartlett packing
The incident took place during the closing stages of the Seattle innings when Marcus Stoinis bowled a back-of-a-length delivery outside off stump. Hassan Khan gently tapped the ball towards backward point and immediately called for a quick single. Harmeet Singh charged onto the ball, gathered it cleanly and, without hesitation, fired in a perfect throw at the striker’s end. Xavier Bartlett, who had set off for the run, was caught well short of his crease as the stumps were shattered by the direct hit.
Bartlett had contributed a handy 13 runs off just 10 deliveries, including a boundary and a six, before his entertaining cameo came to an unfortunate end. The superb piece of fielding earned plenty of praise from commentators and fans alike, with the video of the dismissal quickly going viral.

Brody Couch and Lhuan-dre Pretorius guide San Francisco Unicorns to dramatic win
The thrilling run-out was only one chapter in an unforgettable contest. Seattle Orcas posted 191 after a flying start, with Shayan Jahangir smashing 62 off 25 balls and Matthew Breetzke adding a rapid 51. At one stage, the Orcas looked set to breach the 220-run mark before Brody Couch triggered a stunning collapse, finishing with outstanding figures of 3/41.
San Francisco’s chase got off to a disastrous start as they slumped to 26/3 inside four overs. However, teenage sensation Lhuan-dre Pretorius counterattacked brilliantly with a breathtaking 87 off just 36 deliveries, putting the Unicorns firmly back in the contest through a 99-run partnership with Aaron Hardie.
The game swung once again after Pretorius’ dismissal as the Unicorns lost five wickets for just 38 runs. Needing 29 runs with only two wickets in hand, Couch produced a remarkable all-round performance. The lower-order batter smashed an unbeaten 26 from only 14 balls, including a crucial six and two boundaries in the closing overs, to steer San Francisco Unicorns to a dramatic two-wicket victory with just two deliveries remaining and cap off a memorable Player of the Match display.
