The latest ICC Men’s Test Rankings have brought a major change at the top of the bowling charts, with Mitchell Starc achieving a career milestone after his sensational performance against Bangladesh. The Australian left-arm pacer has moved to No. 1 for the first time, ending Jasprit Bumrah’s latest reign at the summit.

Starc produced a match-winning display in the second Test in Mackay, taking 10 wickets as Australia secured an innings-and-51-run victory. His performance not only earned him the Player of the Match award but also helped him move two places to the top of the rankings.

Mitchell Starc reaches No. 1 after 10-wicket haul

Starc was outstanding throughout the Test against Bangladesh, claiming 6/12 in the first innings before adding another four wickets for 39 runs in the second. His 10-wicket match haul helped Australia complete a comprehensive victory and earned the 36-year-old the Player of the Series award as well.

The Australian pacer now leads second-placed Bumrah by 10 rating points, while New Zealand’s Matt Henry has slipped to third. Starc’s previous career-best position was No. 2, which he first reached after the Boxing Day Test last year. Bumrah’s latest spell at the top has therefore come to an end after around two months. The Indian quick has nevertheless spent a combined 697 days at No. 1, the most by any Indian bowler and the 14th-most in Test cricket history.

Ollie Robinson and Manav Suthar among notable gainers

England’s Ollie Robinson has climbed 15 places to 11th after taking eight wickets in the team’s innings-and-103-run victory over Pakistan at Headingley. Josh Tongue has also moved up 16 places to 17th after claiming eight wickets in the same Test. India’s Manav Suthar has made one of the biggest jumps, rising 28 places to a career-best 48th after taking 10 wickets in India’s victory over Sri Lanka in Galle.

In the batting rankings, Harry Brook remains at No. 1 and has extended his lead over Joe Root to 24 rating points. Rishabh Pant has climbed six places to seventh after his recent performances against Sri Lanka, returning to the top 10 for the first time in a year. Sri Lanka’s Sonal Dinusha has also made a huge jump of 49 places to 54th, while Cameron Green has moved up nine spots to 21st.
