Man Utd table bid for Freiburg striker

Manchester United have tabled a bid for Freiburg forward Igor Matanovic as they look to reshape their attacking options before the end of the summer transfer window.

According to a Yahoo Sports report dated August 20, United are unhappy with Benjamin Sesko and are now prepared to move for Matanovic this summer. The report points to the Freiburg attacker as a target for the club, with the approach coming at a time when United are understood to be assessing their forward line.

No fee, contract details or proposed structure of the bid have been disclosed, and there is no indication yet of Freiburg’s response. However, the reported move suggests United are ready to act rather than simply monitor alternatives, with Matanovic now emerging as a concrete option.

The situation surrounding Sesko appears to be central to the club’s thinking. United’s dissatisfaction with him has reportedly encouraged them to look elsewhere, and Matanovic could be viewed as a player capable of adding a different option in attack if a deal can be agreed.

For Freiburg, any formal proposal would require a decision on whether to negotiate, reject the offer or seek improved terms. With the summer window still open, talks could develop quickly if both clubs are willing to engage.

United’s interest will now be watched closely, particularly with the club’s attacking plans seemingly under review. Unless further details emerge on the value of the bid or Freiburg’s stance, the deal remains at the reported approach stage, but Matanovic is now firmly linked with a potential move to Old Trafford this summer.
