Man Utd star out for three weeks with hamstring injury

Fernandes out for five games with hamstring injury

Manchester United midfielder Bruno Fernandes has been ruled out for three weeks with a hamstring injury sustained against Aston Villa in the Premier League last weekend.

The Portugal international has been ever-present in the starting XI for the Red Devils over the past five years, but he will be sidelined for some period of time after his setback on Sunday.

Fernandes is poised to miss the next five games for the Mancunian giants and could be fit in time for the Manchester derby against Manchester City in the middle of January.

In the absence of Fernandes, manager Ruben Amorim has a selection headache on his hands. Kobbie Mainoo is likewise out with a calf injury for the next few matches.

Amorim may have to field Manuel Ugarte and Casemiro in the centre of the park. Lisandro Martinez played as a makeshift midfielder last weekend and could be another solution.

Mason Mount can also do the job, but has been preferred in an attacking midfield role under Amorim.
