Manchester United have made official contact with the representatives of Borussia Dortmund midfielder Felix Nmecha regarding a possible transfer.
The German was linked with the Mancunian giants during the recent summer transfer window following a productive World Cup campaign for his country.
United ultimately decided against making an approach after learning that Dortmund would not entertain his exit for anything less than £100m.
The club signed three midfielders in Andrey Santos, Youri Tielemans and Carlos Baleba, but they continue to be linked with more midfield targets.
It remains to be seen whether United will make a formal bid for Nmecha in either January or at the end of the ongoing campaign next summer.
It does not appear the club are keen on adding another defensive midfielder to their ranks, and could focus on other positions in the near future.
A new centre-back and left-back could be signed in the next 12 months, while a striker could be pursued too if Joshua Zirkzee moves on.
