Manchester United have cancelled their verbal agreement to sign Atalanta midfielder Ederson this summer, according to reputed journalist Fabrizio Romano.
The Red Devils finalised a £39m deal for the Brazilian earlier in June, and it was anticipated that he would undergo his medical at the beginning of July.
That was delayed by his late call-up for the World Cup. On his return, United have pulled out of an agreement due to concerns over his recent knee injury.
Atalanta believe Ederson is 100 percent fit after his meniscus concern, but United don’t share the same belief and have decided to pursue someone else in the transfer window.
United are expected to announce the signing of midfielder Andrey Santos from Chelsea in the next 24 hours. They are now likely to sign two more midfielders.
There are no standout targets at the moment, and United have busy weeks ahead as they seek to strengthen their midfield department sufficiently for next season.
