Manchester City manager Enzo Maresca has earmarked Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernandez as a potential replacement for Rodri this summer.

The Cityzens are currently in the process of selling Rodri to Barcelona. Negotiations are underway regarding the fee, and a transfer is expected to materialise this week.

Lille’s Ayyoub Bouaddi is the prime target to fill the void left by Rodri, and discussions are advanced with the French outfit to find a suitable agreement for the Moroccan ace.

Despite this, there is speculation over Fernandez’s future. Maresca is a firm admirer of the Argentine, and he shared a strong bond with him during their time together at Chelsea.

Even if Bouaddi arrives soon, Man City could still focus on landing Fernandez, who is reportedly eager to play Champions League football in the prime phase of his career.

Fernandez had earmarked Madrid as his preferred destination earlier this summer, but Los Blancos categorically dismissed the possibility with an official statement.
