Luis Enrique feels Paris Saint-Germain were “almost perfect” in their 3-1 defeat of Le Mans.
PSG, who made a poor start to the season, made it three Ligue 1 wins on the spin thanks to goals from Lucas Beraldo, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Maghnes Akliouche, while Desire Doue missed a late penalty.
The European champions created chances worth 4.25 expected goals, albeit only 1.72 xG came from open-play opportunities.
Le Mans, however, finished with 1.55 xG, the highest tally for a promoted side at the Parc des Princes in a Ligue 1 match since Troyes in May 2022 (1.75).
PSG are now into fifth in Ligue 1, three points behind leaders Monaco, and Luis Enrique thinks his team are beginning to hit their stride.
“It was an almost perfect result. We conceded a goal, and it was tough,” he said.
“But I think that if we talk about what we did, knowing that we expected to face difficulties, we can say that the team was brave. We controlled the match, and it wasn’t easy because I have to highlight the way Le Mans played. They showed a lot of courage.
“It was very difficult, but it’s a pleasure to play against such a courageous team. It was important for us to get these three points. We still need more to climb up to the top of the league.”

Akliouche was particularly impressive for PSG, as he scored his first goal for the club.
Three of his last four goals in all competitions have been scored at the Parc des Princes (also two with Monaco in Ligue 1 and the Champions League).
“I love everything Maghnes Akliouche does,” Luis Enrique said. “The way he plays as a striker, winger, midfielder, his technical ability, his physicality. I’m very happy to have him.”
While Le Mans offered plenty of resistance, they ultimately fell short after Louis Mafouta equalised in the 54th minute.
And coach Patrick Videira was disappointed with his team’s display after their leveller.
“From the moment we equalised, we entered a kind of euphoria and lost our tactical discipline,” he said.
“We could have done much better with our technical quality, in terms of width, stretching them in depth. We showed a good side, but I want much more.”
Le Mans have lost only four of their 25 matches in all competitions in 2026 (W9 D12). All four of these defeats have come away from home.
