Liverpool poised to return for Guehi

Liverpool have been backed to sign a replacement for defender Ibrahima Konate during the January transfer window.

The Frenchman has formed a terrific partnership with Virgil van Dijk in the heart of the Reds’ defence, but his future is uncertain.

His current contract expires at the end of the campaign and as things stand, he has no plans of extending his stay at the Reds.

Football Insider now claim that the Premier League champions will seek a successor to Konate during the winter transfer window.

The Reds wanted Marc Guehi from Crystal Palace for the same reason this summer, but a deadline day move was blocked.

Palace manager Oliver Glasner threatened to quit the club if Guehi left for the Merseyside giants before the transfer deadline.

However, Guehi could be permitted to leave at the start of the New Year, provided there is a quality replacement signed.

Liverpool are expected to return for Guehi. They could sign him for much less than £35m with his contract expiring in June 2026.
