Kim Plath’s Surprising Transformation in Season 7

Welcome To Plathville season 7 has been somewhat of an eye-opening experience for the family, especially for this series villain who appears to be changing their ways. Throughout Welcome To Plathville season 7, viewers have watched as the Plath family changes its form once again. After Ethan Plath’s divorce from Olivia Plath, many of the other Plaths began to shift their lives, too.

Removing Olivia from the equation, there were new significant others in the Plath family that were all vying for Kim Plath and Barry Plath’s acceptance. Micah Plath began dating Veronica Peters, who was in with the family for a short while before things took a turn for the worse and their relationship sunk. Elsewhere, Moriah Plath reunited with her ex, Matthew Craven, then broke things off again.

Lydia Plath, who’s been one of the central focuses of Welcome To Plathville season 7 because of her relationship with Zac Wyse, has brought someone serious into the picture and is looking for the family’s acceptance, while both Ethan and Isaac Plath have new girlfriends in the mix. With so much change, one of the original Plaths is shifting gears, too.

Although Kim has long been one of Welcome To Plathville’s villains, it’s been clear that things are changing in her life and the state of her family. Kim’s been doing a lot of preparation for Lydia’s wedding, which has kept her busy on Welcome To Plathville this season. Whether that’s for worse or for better, Kim’s been doing a lot to change.

Kim’s spent a lot less time on screen than she has in past seasons of Welcome To Plathville, which has been a welcome change for some viewers who don’t enjoy her dynamics with her children or her ex-husband, Barry. Kim’s personality has also shifted in some moments, showing a quieter, more reflective version of the blunt, brash Kim we’ve seen before.

Although the changes in Kim have been interesting to some, there’s a case to be made that they’re not all positive. Kim’s been working hard to move in a different direction, but it seems likely that there could be a lot Welcome To Plathville viewers aren’t seeing when it comes to the Plath family matriarch. Rather than actually changing, she could just be getting a good edit.

Kim’s behavior has often been brushed under the rug by viewers and the producers of Welcome To Plathville alike. While she’s been criticized in the past, she doesn’t always find herself in the most savory situations, which frequently causes her to be unpopular with the audience of the series. Kim’s shift in presence on Welcome To Plathville could be welcome, but may not be for the best.

Welcome To Plathville airs Tuesdays at 10 p.m. EDT on TLC.
