Fans of actor Kelly Reilly can look forward to one of her most popular movies heading to an exceptionally-fitting streaming home soon.
In recent years, Reilly has become best known for playing Beth Dutton in the Yellowstone franchise. She starred on the flagship series for the entirety of its five-season run, and is now reprising Beth opposite Cole Hauser’s Rip Wheeler in the spinoff series Dutton Ranch. Reilly has earned various accolades playing the character, including being nominated by the Hollywood Critics Association for Best Actress in a Broadcast Network or Cable Series, Drama twice.
Beyond Yellowstone, Reilly has an impressive resume of other TV shows and movies. On the film front, she played Mary Morstan in the Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law-led Sherlock Holmes movies, and in more recent years, she’s appeared in features like A Haunting in Venice, Little Wing, and Here. However, Reilly’s arguably most critically-acclaimed movie was released in 2012, and it’s being put on the perfect streaming service in a little over a week.
Starting on July 1, the Oscar-nominated Flight will be available to watch on Paramount+. Not only is this fitting since the movie hails from Paramount Pictures, it doubles as great timing considering that Dutton Ranch is exclusively available on that streaming service and will conclude season 1 just two days later. All the other Yellowstone shows besides the flagship series can be found on Paramount+, too.
Flight starred Denzel Washington as Captain William “Whip” Whitaker, an airline pilot who pulls off a crash-landing after the plane suffers a mechanical malfunction. Although initially hailed as a hero, the investigation into the crash-landing reveals that Whip was intoxicated while he was piloting. Reilly plays Nicole Maggen, a recovering drug addict with whom Whip forms a romantic relationship during the investigation.
Other Flight cast members included Don Cheadle, John Goodman, Bruce Greenwood, Brian Geraghty, Tamara Tunie, and Melissa Leo, among others. Robert Zemeckis directed the feature, and John Gatins wrote the script. Paramount released Flight, one of Washington’s best movies, on November 2, 2012, the same day that Universal Pictures’ The Man with the Iron Fists and Walt Disney Pictures’ Wreck-It Ralph came out.
Flight was both a critical and commercial success. In the latter category, it made nearly $162 million off a reported $31 million budget. In the former category, the movie boasts a 77% Tomatometer on Rotten Tomatoes among professional critics, and the audience-driven Popcornmeter rests at 75%.
During and after its theatrical run, Flight was showered with various accolades. That included Washington being nominated for both a Golden Globe and an Academy Award for his performance as Whip, as well as Gatins being nominated for Best Original Screenplay at the 85th Academy Awards. Additionally, Reilly won the Spotlight Award given by the Hollywood Film Festival for her work in Flight.
It remains to be seen if Reilly will continue playing Beth Dutton in Dutton Ranch season 2, since a renewal hasn’t been announced, but season 1 has been met with positive critical reception. The actor also recently starred in the British crime thriller series Under Salt Marsh.
