England have announced their ODI and T20I squads for the upcoming home series against Sri Lanka, with the white-ball campaign set to begin on September 15 in Southampton. The teams will play three T20Is before shifting to a three-match ODI series, with the final game scheduled at The Oval on September 27.

The squad announcement sees Jamie Overton return to both formats after missing the series against India due to injury. England have also rewarded two uncapped players, with Aneurin Donald earning his maiden T20I call-up and Sussex seamer Henry Crocombe receiving his first selection for the ODI side.

Jamie Overton returns to England squads after injury

Overton has been named in both the T20I and ODI squads after spending time on the sidelines with injury. His return gives England another pace-bowling option ahead of a busy period, with the team continuing to build towards the 2027 ODI World Cup. The selectors have also handed opportunities to Donald and Crocombe. Donald has earned his first T20I call-up after a strong domestic campaign, having scored 2,423 runs in 111 T20 matches at a strike rate of 170.99.

Crocombe, meanwhile, has forced his way into the ODI setup after an impressive run in the County Championship. The 24-year-old Sussex seamer recently claimed back-to-back hat-tricks, taking three wickets in three balls against Somerset before repeating the feat against Essex eight days later. He finished the latter game with figures of 5 for 39.

Sam Curran and Phil Salt remain unavailable

England will continue without Sam Curran and Phil Salt, who remain unavailable as they recover from their respective injuries. Jacob Bethell is also still undergoing rehabilitation after successfully undergoing surgery on his injured knee earlier this week. Harry Brook will continue to captain both squads, while the likes of Jofra Archer, Gus Atkinson, Jos Buttler, Ben Duckett, Will Jacks and Adil Rashid feature across the two formats.

Joe Root has been included only in the ODI squad, while Rehan Ahmed and Crocombe are the notable additions to the 50-over group. England will begin the T20I series in Southampton on September 15, followed by matches in Cardiff and Manchester. The ODI series will then move to Chester-le-Street, Leeds and The Oval.

England enter the Sri Lanka series with plenty of confidence after a successful home white-ball campaign against India. They won the T20I series 4-0 before securing a 2-1 victory in the three-match ODI series. Sri Lanka, meanwhile, come into the series after mixed results in their recent white-ball campaign. They won their ODI series against the West Indies but lost the T20I leg, setting up an interesting contest against an England side that will also be looking to assess some of its emerging players.
