The dynasty of Pokémon continues. This year, it’s not just about a single generation, as the 30th anniversary has shown. In addition to tons of love for Kanto, there’s also been plenty of releases for just about every Generation, with plenty of Scarlet & Violet residuals, since it’s the most recent era.
We do have the 10th Generation coming up in 2027, but there’s going to be a long road ahead for it. With rumors flying that Winds & Waves could miss the first half of the year, it’ll be quite a wait, and we’ll have plenty of new Pokémon and narrative info next year. It’s wild to think that we don’t even have the name of the region yet.
For now, fans of the Hoenn region should mark their calendars for August, as a brand-new release has people riled up on X.
After weeks of leaks, it seems the Rayquaza LEGO set is finally ready for prime time. It’s been given an official price of $129.99, with a release on August 1, 2026. Pre-orders are live on the official LEGO site, with a limit of three per account.
It’ll come with the Rayquaza building set (which consists of 1083 pieces), as well as a minifig of Zinnia, who plays a huge part in the lore of the third generation thanks to the OmegaRuby & AlphaSapphire remakes.
Here’s the full rundown: “Unleash the power of the skies with the Legendary Pokémon Rayquaza (72168) and relive an iconic Trainer adventure. The set measures over 15 in. (38 cm) tall and features the authentically detailed Rayquaza with Zinnia, a Draconid Trainer minifigure holding an Ultra Ball. This collectible video game model makes an awesome gift idea for adult Pokémon fans to build and display.”
The Rayquaza portion of the set will be poseable, with joints on the arms and head, as well as a “reconfigurable” body and tail. It’s also supported by the LEGO Builder App for 3D notes.
As one of the signifiers of the third Generation, Rayquaza has maintained its popularity for several decades. Dragons have always been extremely popular in Pokémon, but Rayquaza, in particular, has managed to soar above the crowd and is typically represented in some form of merchandise throughout each Generation.
In recent years, it has made a huge comeback with Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire, where it also received a new Mega form. It’s also a major component of Pokémon Legends: Z-A as one of the final encounters after the Mega Dimension DLC story. If you’re a Pokémon fan, odds are you’ve seen Rayquaza before.
