IPL 2025: Here’s the price at which Mustafizur Rahman replaced Jake Fraser-McGurk in Delhi Capitals

Delhi Capitals have made a significant mid-season move by signing Bangladesh pacer Mustafizur Rahman as a replacement for Australian batter Jake Fraser-McGurk in the ongoing IPL 2025. This change comes as Fraser-McGurk opted out of the remainder of the tournament due to personal reasons, leaving a crucial spot open in the Capitals’ overseas contingent.

Jake Fraser-McGurk’s IPL 2025 stint cut short

Fraser-McGurk’s IPL 2025 journey with the Delhi Capitals was unexpectedly brief and turbulent. The young Australian, who had dazzled in IPL 2024 with 330 runs at a phenomenal strike rate, struggled to replicate that form this season, managing only 55 runs in six matches. However, it wasn’t just the numbers that led to his departure.

Fraser-McGurk was reportedly “totally disturbed” by the events during the abandoned match in Dharamshala on May 8, which saw floodlight failure and a tense security situation following drone attacks in the region. The ordeal led to the evacuation of players and spectators, and the subsequent travel disruptions deeply affected the Australia batter. As a result, he decided not to return to India for the rest of the IPL, dealing a blow to Delhi Capitals’ playoff ambitions.

Mustafizur Rahman’s signing amount for IPL 2025

In response, Delhi Capitals swiftly roped in Rahman, a seasoned left-arm pacer from Bangladesh, to bolster their bowling attack for the remainder of IPL 2025. Mustafizur, who brings a wealth of IPL experience with 61 wickets from 57 matches, joins the Capitals for a price of INR 6 crore. His recent performances in the IPL and other T20 leagues have kept him in high demand, and his knack for delivering in high-pressure situations makes him a valuable addition as DC eyes a playoff spot.

Mustafizur’s signing not only fills the void left by Fraser-McGurk but also adds depth to a Capitals squad hit by overseas player unavailability. With international commitments and security concerns affecting several teams, Mustafizur’s arrival is timely and strategic, offering Delhi both experience and variety in their bowling arsenal.
