Star cricketer Hardik Pandya has issued a strong statement on social media condemning paparazzi for capturing a derogatory video of his girlfriend Mahieka Sharma at a Bandra restaurant.

In a long note shared on his Instagram story, the India all-rounder said that while he understands life in the public eye comes with scrutiny, the incident “crossed a line” and turned a private moment into “cheap sensationalism.”
Hardik wrote that Mahieka was simply walking down a staircase when photographers captured her from an angle “no woman deserves to be photographed from”, stressing that the issue was not about headlines or clicks but “basic respect.” Headded that women deserve dignity and “everyone deserves boundaries,” making it clear that the way the images were taken and circulated was unacceptable to him.
Addressing “media brothers” directly, Hardik said he respects their hustle and usually cooperates, but urged them to be “a little more mindful” and accept that “not everything needs to be captured” and “not every angle needs to be taken.” He ended by calling for “some humanity in this game,” asking photographers and portals to reconsider how they cover celebrity partners and private moments in future.

Hardik will return to action with South Africa T20Is
Hardik is poised for his international return against South Africa in a T20I series, starting this Tuesday, December 9, in Cuttack, after two months sidelined with a quadriceps injury sustained during the Asia Cup in September. While preparing for his comeback, the all-rounder recently addressed the paparazzi.
During his recovery time away from cricket, Hardik focused on personal life, publicly confirming his relationship with fashion model Mahieka in October via Instagram. The couple made their first joint public appearance on Diwali when they were spotted together at the Mumbai airport.
