GTA 6 Will Officially Be Unplayable For Millions On November 19

The upcoming release of GTA VI is arguably the most highly anticipated in video game history, with millions of players the world over waiting to see exactly what it’s going to be like when it drops in November. It should be a pretty epic experience as well, with what we know so far doing nothing to dampen the overall excitement among the community.

That said, the harsh realities of the real world are never too far away, and there are reasons that some of those who were planning to play the game at launch may have to temper their excitement. As usual, a lot of it simply comes down to money, but there really could be a lot of players left out in the cold when the big day rocks up.

Consoles Have Only Gotten More Expensive

In case you missed it, the cost of the PlayStation 5 was recently increased once again, after Xbox did the same thing back in 2025. That means the standard cost of a PS5 now sits at $650, while the Pro version (which will inevitably play the game better), costs a staggering $899.99.

As first reported by TweakTown, gaming industry analyst Mat Piscatella believes it might not stop there, with the Pro hitting the $1000 mark before too long. Even with the deal between Rockstar and Sony to bring bundles to player, and if the prices stay where they are, fans could easily be spending over a thousand to get in on the action.

It’s a startling cost to essentially just play a new game, as big as that game is, and it may well prove too rich for many people’s blood. The only slight positive is the recent news that Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick is still very keen to make sure consumers are getting reasonable value with GTA, but the game is going to cost a decent amount regardless.

GTA 6 On PC Still Doesn’t Have A Release Date

At the same time, the game won’t be launching on PC for the foreseeable future, with Rockstar and its parent company entirely focus on the console release for the time being. While this is understandable from a technical perspective, given potential security risks with the eventual multiplayer, it once again leaves a huge portion of the gaming community out.

If those who usually play on PC aren’t willing to spend close to $1000 to get involved, it really is difficult to see how there won’t be millions of dedicated fans unable to play the game when it releases on November 19. Our best hope is that the gap between the release of the console and PC versions of GTA VI isn’t too big, but if the past is anything to go by, we might be in a bit of trouble.
