The upcoming release of Grand Theft Auto VI is already closer than it has ever been before, taking into account when the two previous delays were announced, and it’s fair to say that excitement is understandably ramping up. Unfortunately, we haven’t really heard much from Rockstar officially, and that has started to become galling for gathered fans.
The most recent communication we have seen comes from a more tertiary approach, with a few interesting tidbits from Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick, as well as the report on the game’s progress as part of the company’s earnings call. One thing we are waiting for is a third and final trailer, but it turns out the last trailer is causing a lot of consternation among fans after a very specific anniversary.
Over on Reddit, one user shared a screenshot in which someone pointed out the GTA VI’s second trailer was still pinned to Rockstar’s profile on Twitter/X. That’s all well and good, until you realize that the release date given at the end of that video is May 26, or today (at the time of writing).
As you might expect, there were plenty of comments from fans who were unhappy, with one saying, “I’m gonna sue them for emotional damages and false advertising or something.”
Over on Twitter/X, many of the tweets responding to that fact were also pretty upset. “I can’t wait to play Grand Theft Auto VI today as the trailer pinned on Rockstar Games‘ account says!” one said.
While another added, “You CANNOT keep this pinned tomorrow, dawg. Imagine all they do is post this same trailer again but with the November date. I’d rather have nothing to be honest.”
“Rockstar you gotta unpin this… and pin you delaying it to Nov 19th, 2026. People are going to think the game is out,” a third said.
“Man, I can’t wait for it to release later today! So glad that a professional company like Rockstar hasn’t left an old date out on the most recent trailer. That would be very misleading,” another said.
The fact does remain that we should probably get a third trailer for GTA VI relatively soon, if the format the company adopted for earlier games in the series remains true. Then, it should be a relatively clear runway to the big day in November barring some kind of unnamed disaster, and then we should all really have a holiday season to remember.
