GTA 6 Official Gameplay Look Leaves Gamers Concerned Over Player Customization

Unless Trailer 3 is in our midst, Grand Theft Auto 6 is likely to bury its head again now that it marketed and launched preorders. Meanwhile, Grand Theft Auto Online’s new heist update has helped sweep the fact that Grand Theft Auto 6 will not launch with a disc under a rug.

Moreover, the controversy enveloping Grand Theft Auto 6’s Standard and Ultimate editions is still raging. Fans have taken to calling the Standard edition ‘Grand Theft Auto 6 Lite’ due to it objectively being the lesser of the two versions, at least if you’re somebody who values having more content, while the Ultimate edition grants exclusive access to said content and cosmetics. That said, not everybody is pleased with the cosmetics that the Ultimate edition boasts as an incentive to hawk over an extra $20.

On Reddit, fans are admitting that they’re not as enthusiastic about the cosmetic bonuses that are unlocked in Grand Theft Auto 6’s Ultimate edition. Whether someone likes a cosmetic option or not is completely subjective, though what gamers deem worthwhile or valuable will be the deciding factor in choosing to buy the Standard edition instead of the Ultimate edition.

User ArthurCandleman criticizes the offerings, saying the selection looks like “GTA Online filler.” Fans clearly agree with them, as this comment has 90 upvotes and counting. If this is the kind of cosmetic content that fans have to look forward to in the future of Grand Theft Auto Online, and the disdain for it is already apparent, then this could certainly be a bad omen.

User LukeD1992 writes, “Lots of people buying the Ultimate edition out of FOMO never actually using the extra content,” and it’s true that some players may never choose to dress Grand Theft Auto 6’s Jason and Lucia in some of the cosmetics that are only available in this edition. However, as user Riftus points out, “It’s not just cosmetics. There’s like 5 stores, a hideout, and questline locked behind the Ultimate version.”

The FOMO seems to be hitting gamers quite hard, and it makes sense, too, as Grand Theft Auto 6’s launch this November is going to be an immense milestone in video game history. Anyone who already considers themselves an enormous Grand Theft Auto 6 fan probably won’t think twice about it, either, like user MisthiosRobins17: “I just got FOMO I didn’t even look what was involved. It’s GTA. I’m going to buy Ultimate regardless.”

And for some fans, that’s enough. On the other end of affairs, many gamers may not even preorder either edition of Grand Theft Auto 6 until they see a dedicated gameplay reveal. Grand Theft Auto 6 is scheduled to be released for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S on November 19, 2026, but the long-awaited gameplay trailer is still yet to arrive.
