GTA 6 Fans Getting Anxious Given New Pre-Order Info

Grand Theft Auto 6 fans are painstakingly counting down the days until November 19, waiting with bated breath for even the slightest hint from Rockstar with an official pre-order update or trailer 3 announcement. Players were convinced that official pre-orders would go live last week after a recently “confirmed” Best Buy leak suggested May 19 would be the day, but as Tuesday came and went, gamers came up empty-handed.

With November’s release date fast approaching, the likelihood of the game’s launch getting pushed back again is getting increasingly smaller. But as you might expect among GTA 6 gamers, the absence of any pre-order news has triggered a wave of anxiety, conjuring fears of yet another delay (via Reddit).

Just as players were starting to breathe a sigh of relief regarding the release of Grand Theft Auto 6 this fall, recent updates surrounding pre-order information have thrown a massive wrench into things. For starters, an apparently legitimate leak from Best Buy of all places indicated that pre-orders were set to drop on May 19, and these leaks were reportedly “confirmed” by Insider Gaming’s Tom Henderson. Insider Gaming later contradicted this confirmation, indicating they had no clue when pre-orders would officially drop.

Clearly, May 19 didn’t end up being the case, and gamers quickly pointed to the Thursday, May 21 Take-Two earnings call as the next port in the storm, hoping there’d be some indication of when marketing for GTA 6 would begin in earnest. Once again, the date passed without any pre-order news, and fans still aren’t completely convinced that a third delay is off the table, despite the call indicating that November seems pretty locked in for launch.

Despite no official pre-order news during the earnings call, it’s become increasingly clear that Grand Theft Auto 6 marketing is going to be in a league of its own, especially after recent revelations from Take-Two’s Strauss Zelnick indicating that the official campaign will be nothing like Grand Theft Auto 5‘s marketing push, which was more focused on television advertisements.

Regardless, while the panic about a possible further delay for GTA 6 is likely unwarranted, doomers such as milesdarobot say they “would assume if we don’t see anything until July or August that means we’re seeing a delay,” while Gbrush3pwood argues that “if we get nothing until August this **** is delayed again,” going on to point out that “I just can’t see the marketing circus that this will inevitably be, starting so close to the intended release. June or bust would be my guess.”

Ultimately, gamers are going to have to be patient when it comes to pre-orders and the next big trailer for Grand Theft Auto 6, and there’s no reason to think that a third delay is inevitable just because we haven’t had an update so far in May. And it seems that as November draws nearer, it’s best to temper your expectations and not assume the worst until we get an official update from Rockstar.
