Gi-hun Repeating The Front Man's Dark Squid Game Winner Twist Would Have Created A Season 3 Plot Hole

Gi-hun was given a chance to win by The Front Man in Squid Game season 3, which would have caused a massive plot hole had he actually gone through with it. At the end of Squid Game season 3, Gi-hun ends up making the ultimate sacrifice, but does so without having to stoop to an all-time low by killing other players in their sleep.

In-ho, who revealed himself to be The Front Man to Gi-hun’s dismay, gave Gi-hun the opportunity to end the games single-handedly before the finale game, Sky Squid Game, even began. In-ho was offered the same choice by the creator of the Squid Game, Player 001 from season 1, and took him up on his offer.

Had Gi-hun killed Player 100 and the other contestants in their sleep, as In-ho encouraged him to do, he would likely have fallen into a trap based on a new rule that was established by the pink guards after Player 222’s newborn baby took her place in the competition.

In-ho’s encouragement to Gi-hun to kill the other players in their sleep would have likely led him into a trap. After Player 222 takes her own life in the jump rope game, the VIPs decide that her newborn child should take her place. When the other contestants find out, they immediately try to take the baby from Gi-hun.

The pink guards fire a round into the air, forcing Player 100 and the others to stop in their tracks. A new rule is then announced that violence between players outside the games will be prohibited. This new rule is the only thing that saves the baby’s life at that moment, and Gi-hun’s as well.

Although the Squid Game season 3 finale put an end to the massively successful Netflix show, there are some big questions that were left unanswered.

Still, despite the rule change, The Front Man calls for a meeting with Gi-hun and gives him a knife, telling him to finish off the others. This is what In-ho did to win the Squid Game himself, and it was his twisted way of showing Gi-hun and Player 222’s child mercy.

Since Gi-hun would have sacrificed himself anyway by breaking the rules and killing other players in the sleeping quarters, he could have avoided risking the baby’s life further by letting the games continue in the Squid Game series finale.

In-ho was mostly interested in seeing whether Gi-hun could be morally broken. Had Gi-hun killed the others in the night, then In-ho would have proven to himself that selfless people like Gi-hun truly don’t exist in life and death situations.

Gi-hun, however, would have broken the rule preventing violence against players in the sleeping quarters. This would likely have disqualified him from the games and led to his death. If not, it would have been a major Squid Game season 3 plot hole.

If Gi-hun was willing to die all along to protect the baby, as proven by his final sacrifice at the end of the series, then he might as well have just gone on with it and killed the other players in their sleep. It would have broken his spirit and moral compass, but it really was the safest way to ensure the baby would survive.
