Since its release back in 2020, Genshin Impact has gone on to completely revolutionize the gacha gaming genre. Developed by HoYoverse and now available across all platforms, Genshin Impact is an anime-style open-world game consisting of a core main story, an action-focused battle system, and gacha elements.

As such, players are able to use real currency, or grind the game to make up in-game currency, in order to gamble on characters and weapons which they can add to their game. With these characters and weapons being pretty powerful, it will turn the tide in your favor during battles, and hey. Who does not love a gamble every now and again?

Going on to inspire the likes of Honkai: Star Rail and more recently, Wuthering Waves, Genshin Impact has been at the head of the gacha genre for many years, and its popularity shows no signs of dwindling. However, a recent announcement could lead to the beloved game becoming unplayable for millions.

Genshin Impact is soon set to welcome Version 7.0, and whilst many platforms will remain unaffected by the changes arriving alongside it, Android users who play the hit gacha game on their devices will have to deal with updated compatibility requirements.

This news comes after HoYoverse released the performance requirements for Version 7.0 of Genshin Impact earlier this week. With the update set to introduce updated visuals to the game, including updated character models, enhanced environment textures, and improved visual effects, this means that its requirements have also been increased when it comes to performance.

Luckily, the specifications for PC, iOS, PlayStation, Xbox, and most Android devices will stay the same. However, a small number of users who still use older Android devices may be affected due to limitations caused by certain GPU architectures. As such, if your Android uses Mali-G52 MP2, Mali-G57 MP, Imagination BXM, and older PowerVR, you may experience crashes, black screens, freezing and other technical issues following the update to Version 7.0.

Adding a whole new region and brand-new characters, Genshin Impact 7.0 will be a big update for fans. However, at the time of writing, HoYoverse has not confirmed a release date. Luckily, this gives you plenty of time to work out if your Android device will be able to support the next major release.
