Misty Layne started as an actor and sketch comedy writer before deciding to concentrate mainly on writing. Disney+ and Hulu have a busy October ahead, packed with new show premieres, the return of fan favorites, and the acquisition of some perfectly spooky film titles and fantastic franchises. While every month sees new content released on the platforms, so that subscribers always have something to watch, this month is particularly exciting as Disney+ will be dropping the latest MCU miniseries. Plus, Hulu shows up with the latest season of American Horror Story, which fans have been waiting for.
With October 2026 bringing such a great mix of originals, returning shows, and more, subscribers will have plenty of chances to catch up on new-to-them series and films, as well as brand-new ones. Hulu is dropping a handful of originals this month, including two K-dramas, Between Steps and Merry Berry Love. The streamer is also bringing new episodes of favorites like It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia (season 18 debuted with a Rotten Tomatoes score of 84%) and The Drop: A Snowfall Saga.
Disney+ will be sharing a few documentary series, Marvel’s VisionQuest, and the return of Vampirina: Teenage Vampire, among other titles. Disney+ and Hulu’s libraries continue to grow throughout the month, so viewers will have packed schedules.

- It’s been a little over two years since American Horror Story appeared on our screens. Although the AHS season 12’s finale was the show’s lowest-rated episode, as the series once again failed to stick the landing, fans have still been eager to see what season 13 might hold. Finally, the wait is over, as the new season premiered on September 24th. The rest of the season drops this month, two or three episodes at a time.

Disney+ and Hulu: Africa: Earth’s Wild Home Season 1 – All Episodes Streaming
- The documentary series Africa: Earth’s Wild Home offers a look across the continent at the wild animals that live there (many of whose populations are dwindling, as the entire wildlife population has decreased by 80%). It also dives into the inventive ways local communities, conservationists, and scientists are trying to save these creatures from extinction. Just a few of the animals that might appear on the show include pangolins, tiny crocodiles, and rhinos. While the show airs on National Geographic, all episodes land on Disney+ the next day.

- K-drama fans will be pleased with the release of Beyond Steps, one of Ahn Pan-seok’s final works before his passing this past August. Ahn was known as one of the best directors of character-driven, romantic K-dramas that age like fine wine, giving the world other series like Something In The Rain and Heard It Through The Grapevine. Starring Choo Young-woo and Kim So-hyun, the show follows the romance between a grad student who has lost her way as a medical resident and a former swimmer who lost a leg to illness.

- Everyone loves Abbott Elementary, and for good reason, as it’s one of the best sitcoms currently on the air, so it’s exciting to finally see season six drop. Even more exciting, the series will hit a major milestone this season — its 100th episode. It’s unclear what exactly this season will hold, but hopefully Janine and Gregory’s relationship will evolve even more (and in a better direction) this year.

- Adam Scott has been killing it lately, with amazing shows like Severance and films like Hokum, which was a nearly flawless horror flick. In the movie, Scott plays an author who visits Ireland and the hotel where his parents honeymooned so he can spread his parents’ ashes. Of course, once he arrives, things go sideways as rumors of a witch haunting the honeymoon suite intrigue him, and people suddenly start going missing. It’s a fantastic film, and an even better metaphor for how people deal with guilt and grief.
