Frost And Steel Officially Launches

Game of Thrones fans are in the midst of the most prolific period of new content in franchise history, with the current season of House of the Dragon sparking heated debate online, the second season of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms in the works for a 2027 launch, the upcoming launch of War for Westeros, and the highly anticipated Aegon’s Conquest film.

Further, the recently released Game of Thrones: Dragonfire has been a smash hit among players so far, and despite being a mobile game, it’s garnered a massive audience thanks to its unique gameplay features that coincide with the House of the Dragon season 3 episodes. However, there’s yet another huge development that fans of the franchise to enjoy, as Game of Thrones: Frost and Steel is officially releasing to APAC markets today, July 15, 2026 (via NetMarble).

Frost and Steel is the official debut Season 1 title for Game of Thrones: Kingsroad, which kicks off today. Seeing as there was not much information made readily available regarding the official launch, outside a Netmarble Dev Note update providing specific gameplay details, Screen Rant reached out to Netmarble for more details on the launch. They’ve since specified that Season 1 will only be releasing to APAC audiences today, with a future global release coming very soon.

While no specific date has been made available for the global Season 1 release, officially titled The North Bannerman Qualifiers: Frost and Steel, a recent Steam update provides the following statement indicating a Q3 release (so sometime before the end of September):

The development team is currently in the final stages of preparing for Global Integration, which will be based on the enhanced systems and service structure currently available in the Asia Build. We are working to complete this process within the third quarter.

That said, Season 1 is packed with new content and gameplay additions, including the following:

  • Choose your House: Pledge allegiance to House Umber, House Hornwood, or House Manderly, each representing a different philosophy and identity rather than gameplay advantages.
  • House-based seasonal rankings: Players compete only against members of their own House, with weekly standings, cumulative seasonal rankings, and exclusive rewards for the top performers.
  • A New Season Mechanism: Burning Battle Spirit has been added to the mix, which acts as a sort of AoE explosion attack.
  • New seasonal progression: Earn points through both high-level dungeon performance and everyday activities by collecting Season Tokens from expeditions, regional events, world bosses, and repeatable content, allowing both hardcore and casual players to contribute.
  • Three new seasonal dungeons: New versions of Wormwalks, Beyond the Wall Expedition, and Elite Hideout provide fresh endgame challenges and leaderboard opportunities.
  • The North Bannerman Duel Festival (July 22): A new PvE tournament mode where players face highly advanced AI-controlled champions that mimic human PvP tactics, including dodging, parrying, and ranged combat.
  • Seasonal rewards: New Battle Pass content, House co-op missions, limited cosmetics, titles, mount banners, emojis, and permanent Hall of Fame recognition for the highest-ranked champions.

As Season 1 progresses for Asian markets in the coming weeks, Game of Thrones: Kingsroad players will want to keep an eye out for developer updates from Netmarble for more information on the global launch.
