I’ve always had a hard time stopping at just one piece of fringe. If it shows up on a skirt, I start longing for it again on a bag or a jacket, because that repetition is what brings the whole outfit to life. It feels like a Western nod without ever becoming too on the nose, and it sits right at home in fall.

The easiest way into a fringe-on-fringe moment is to let one piece lead and let a smaller detail follow. If the hem of my dress is the standout, a punchy shade of red keeps things feeling modern, and then I’ll bring in a second hit through a bag with trim. If the jacket carries the detail, I’ll let everything layered underneath stay sleek so the trim has its moment to fall. A smaller accent can do the same work, like a belt or a skirt hem picking up the fringe up top. Once the two pieces are talking to each other, the fringe stops reading as a detail and starts reading as the whole point.
