As with any role-playing game, being able to fully customize your character is a must. Not only is giving them a good hairstyle and matching outfit important, but so is deciding their personalities, and that is no different in Cyberpunk 2077.

In the 2020 RPG by CD Projekt RED, players are tasked with picking a ‘life path’ for their V, which gives them a background before the events of the game, as well as unlocking unique dialogue options throughout the events of Cyberpunk 2077. In the base game, there are three life paths to choose from: Nomad, Streetkid, or Corpo. The Nomad life path sees your V as part of a clan, much like the one you become involved in when you meet Panam, whilst the Streetkid has lived their entire lives in Night City. As such, they know the people, the gangs, and the slang and have good relationships with the “lower” edges of society. In comparison, the Corpo is most at home in the boardroom and steadily working up the corporate ladder.

Despite offering unique backgrounds to your character, many Cyberpunk 2077 fans have complained that CD Projekt RED did not delve into the life paths enough as, despite offering a few dialogue options and a unique cutscene at the start of the game, V’s life path does not have too much of an impact on gameplay.

Whilst we hope that the Cyberpunk 2077 sequel will improve on this feature, there is something to keep us covered in the meantime: the Fresh Start mod courtesy of Deceptious on Nexus Mods.

Known for their multiple Cyberpunk 2077 mods, Deceptious has introduced a brand-new life path into the game, complete with its very own introduction cutscene. The life path makes V both an ex-Nomad and an ex-Corpo, which makes for some very interesting dialogue options considering those two life paths could not be any more different.

As mentioned, Fresh Start comes alongside a brand-new cutscene and introduction to Night City, and as such, Jackie and Misty will be there at the start of the game to pick up V and show them the ropes.

As with every other life path in Cyberpunk 2077, it will not offer many more changes to your playthrough, but it is still an exciting way to play around with the roleplaying aspects of the game, whilst supporting a modder who provides dedicated, and free, work for the game.
