Dexter has grown to become one of the most iconic fictional serial killers on the screen. No matter how many times one ends up watching the Showtime series and its follow-ups and spin-offs, Dexter Morgan’s complex moral code and gradual fall from grace is always fascinating. While Dexter Morgan has rightfully found his place among other popular fictional serial killers, there is one fictional serial killer character who is still relatively obscure.

The serial killer in question walks the thin line between being extremely disturbing and mildly comical. Even his killing endeavors are so unpredictable and unhinged that a viewer finds it hard to figure out whether they should be horrified by his actions or laugh at the sheer absurdity of his stories. The killer, Peachfuzz from the Creep franchise, is not well-known as Dexter just yet.

However, he is all set to return to the small screen on September 15, 2026, with a whole new season of The Creep Tapes. Like its predecessor, The Creep Tapes season 3, too, will land on Shudder and AMC+ and walk through a whole new line of unsettling and bizarre stories centered around Mark Duplass’ Peachfuzz.

The Creep Franchise’s Peachfuzz Is Far More Deranged & Disturbing Than Dexter

Dexter Morgan, for the most part of his journey, is portrayed as a very calculated and structured serial killer. While his moral code, too, slips time and again, he at least follows a strict set of principles. Even when it comes to his crime scenes, he uses his expertise as a Blood Splatter analyst to leave no traces of his wrongdoings.

The Michael C. Hall character also carefully operates from the shadows and uses everything from tranquilizers to plastic-wrapped kill rooms during his murders.

There is no doubt that Dexter Morgan is one terrifying character. However, he comes nowhere close to being as unhinged and unpredictable as Peachfuzz from the Creep franchise. Played by Mark Duplass, Peachfuzz carefully lures his victims to his home, usually claiming that he wants to be filmed. Owing to this, naive and desperate filmmakers often become his victims.

Instead of instantly revealing his true colors to them, he emotionally manipulates them and plays this game of back-and-forth until they become extremely uncomfortable while still feeling attached to him. His motives always remain unclear to his victims. While many of them start suspecting he does not have the best intentions in mind, they always end up giving him the benefit of the doubt.

And before they end up realizing what he wants to do to them, it is already too late for them to react or flee the scene.

The Creep Tapes, which serves as a follow-up to the two Creep movies, follows an anthology format. Each episode of the show unfolds as a snuff tape recorded by Peachfuzz to document his encounters with unsuspecting victims. With each episode, The Creep Tapes creatively shows how unpredictable and terrifyingly charming Mark Fuplass’ Peachfuzz can be.

After 2 Successful Seasons, Creep Tapes Deserves More Recognition With Season 3

The Creep Tapes has had a successful two-season run so far, explaining why it is set to return with season 3 soon. While the show has not earned the same unanimous acclaim as the movies that preceded it, it puts Peachfuzz’s terrifyingly funny shenanigans on full display. The show’s anthology format also allows Mark Duplass to explore different aspects of the same character while flexing his incredible acting chops.

Surprisingly, the Creep franchise remains relatively indie and obscure. It is yet to achieve the same mainstream attention as Dexter and other popular shows about fictional serial killers. The Creep Tapes undoubtedly has immense potential and has arguably gotten better with each new season. With season 3, it will likely get even better and further cement itself as one of the better modern serial killer thrillers out there.

Hopefully, going into season 3, The Creep Tapes will also manage to grow its audience, allowing Peachfuzz to become as recognizable as Dexter.
