Fans go wild as Smriti Mandhana and Deepti Sharma sizzle in India’s dominting win over Pakistan at Women’s T20 World Cup 2026



India Women produced a dominant all-round performance to defeat Pakistan Women by 64 runs in Match 6 of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 at Edgbaston. After opting to bat first, India piled up an imposing 170/6 in 20 overs before bowling out their arch-rivals for 106 in just 17 overs. Smriti Mandhana starred with the bat, while Deepti Sharma delivered a sensational spell to earn the Player of the Match award.

Smriti Mandhana anchors India’s innings with fluent fifty

India did not get the ideal start as Shafali Verma departed for a quick six-run cameo, but Mandhana ensured the innings remained on track with an elegant 68 off 44 deliveries. Her knock featured nine boundaries and two sixes and laid the platform for a competitive total. Jemimah Rodrigues was dismissed cheaply, but captain Harmanpreet Kaur contributed a composed 36 from 35 balls to stabilize the innings. Bharti Fulmali could not make a significant impact, yet India found the acceleration they needed in the closing stages thanks to wicketkeeper-batter Richa Ghosh.

Richa smashed 34 off only 17 balls, striking five fours and a six to lift the scoring rate. Deepti chipped in with an unbeaten 12, while Shreyanka Patil added a single as India finished strongly on 170/6. For Pakistan, Fatima Sana and Sadia Iqbal claimed two wickets apiece, while Tasmia Rubab and Rameen Shamim picked up one each. Nashra Sandhu bowled economically despite going wicketless.

Pakistan lose momentum despite Muneeba Ali’s resistance

Chasing 171, Pakistan began aggressively but struggled to build substantial partnerships. Muneeba fought hard with 41 runs from 35 balls, hitting five boundaries to keep her side in the contest during the early overs. Gull Feroza and Ayesha Zafar made useful starts with 12 runs each, but neither could convert them into a bigger score. The middle order faltered under sustained pressure as Natalia Pervaiz, Saira Jabeen and Fatima failed to provide meaningful contributions.

Aliya Riaz offered some resistance with 18 runs, but wickets continued to tumble at regular intervals. The lower order could not withstand India’s disciplined attack, and Pakistan were eventually bowled out for 106 in the 17th over.

Deepti Sharma dismantle Pakistan batting unit

The defining performance of the match came from Deepti, who ripped through Pakistan’s batting lineup with remarkable figures of 5 for 10 in her four overs. Her accuracy and variations left the batters with little room to score and effectively ended any hopes of a successful chase. Shree Charani provided excellent support by claiming 3 for 21, while Shafali also chipped in with a wicket. Although Arundhati Reddy, Shreyanka Patil and Kranti Gaud went wicketless, they helped maintain pressure and forced Pakistan into mistakes.

India’s commanding display with both bat and ball ensured a convincing 64-run victory, strengthening their campaign in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 and underlining their credentials as one of the tournament’s strongest contenders.
