Evolution Officially Launches September 2026

Since James Cameron introduced the world to The Terminator in the movie of the same name way back in 1984, the world has been intrigued by the sci-fi world where cyborg assassins live amongst us. Now, with artificial intelligence becoming more sophisticated than ever, fiction may become a reality. Ok, I’m joking… hopefully, but what The Terminator has inspired is countless forms of media all playing into the extinction of humankind at the hands of robots.

One such example of that is Terminator: Dark Fate – Defiance, a 2024 real-time tactics video game by developer Slitherine Ltd. As the synopsis itself reads, “Terminator: Dark Fate – Defiance is not just a game; it’s an adrenaline-fueled journey where your strategic prowess decides the fate of mankind against the machines.”

As such, players return to the “Terminator: Dark Fate universe that follows the war between humanity and Legion’s synthetic intelligent machine network” and become the commander of the Founders in a single-player experience. As you take control of multiple armies, you will need to make the decision on unit placement, battle tactics and abilities in order to ensure that resistance against the machines wins out.

Now sitting at a ‘Very Positive’ rating on Steam, Terminator: Dark Fate – Defiance is back and this time, the Evolution expansion pack promises an even grittier “real-time strategy experience set in the dark future of Dark Fate.”

Set to launch this September, Terminator: Dark Fate – Defiance: Evolution is the latest expansion pack to arrive for Terminator: Dark Fate – Defiance and, this time, the battle for humanity has reached a brand-new frontier.

Lieutenant Church leads the Resistance north into the frozen territories of Canada, searching for new allies and new hope. There, amid Legion’s mining operations and experimental research sites, a new kind of killing machine is taking shape. Engineered for speed and close-quarters combat, these advanced Revs mark the next step in Legion’s evolution and a glimpse of what may soon come.

In order to succeed, players must control their legions and lead them through eight campaign missions. By ordering both Resistance and Integrator forces, you will need to halt mining operations and storm research facilities across the frozen wastelands of Canada, all whilst getting to experience brand-new tactical challenges: sabotage operations, defensive sieges, and full-scale assaults.

Technology itself evolves on the battlefield. Humans begin to integrate augmentation technology, enhanced muscle fibers, neural uplinks, and reflex boosters. Creating the first augmented soldiers capable of standing toe-to-toe with Legion’s most advanced machines.

With new technologies and abilities to master, new augmentation systems to explore, and new narratives featuring Church, Silas, and 1462, Terminator: Dark Fate – Defiance: Evolution is a must-play for fans of the original game, as well as fans of The Terminator franchise as a whole.
