A new look at Sam Raimi’s Send Help reveals Dylan O’Brien and Rachel McAdams smiling despite their grim situation. The upcoming survival thriller film has Linda (McAdams) and her unpleasant boss, Bradley (O’Brien), stranded on an island after being the sole survivors of a plane crash.
ScreenRant’s 2026 movie preview now presents an exclusive image from Send Help, which shows Linda and Bradley smiling at each other while on the beach. They are sitting on the edge of a makeshift shelter created from the island’s natural resources, with Bradley holding a walking stick while Linda adjusts her shoe. Between the shelter and the assortment of gathered fruit next to Linda, the two survivors appear to be doing surprisingly well. Check out the image below:
The seemingly friendly relationship between Linda and Bradley in the image provides a stark contrast from the Send Help trailer. The footage opens with Bradley informing his employee that he sees no value in her, challenging her to prove him wrong on their business trip, and openly mocking her.
After the plane crash, the trailer highlights a game-changing shift in their dynamic. She revels in the fact that Bradley is now “stuck with an asshole boss, just like I was” as she takes charge and torments him, including several shots of her soaked in blood. This means that the new image is likely from early on after the crash and before things fully escalate for both characters.
Send Help is the first Sam Raimi horror movie that the filmmaker has directed since Drag Me to Hell in 2009. He has a long history in the genre, especially with the Evil Dead franchise. Unlike Evil Dead, though, Raimi’s new movie will not be grounded in supernatural horror.
Raimi previously shared with Entertainment Weekly that it was the complex characters, the power shift in their dynamic, and the “outrageous and original” pitch that convinced him to direct the film. Check out his comments below:
I found the two lead characters, Linda and Bradley, to be complex, human, and constantly at odds with each other in often conflicting situations.
The pitch was outrageous and original, all the while tracking these two in their conflict as their power dynamic changed dramatically. I knew right away that I wanted to direct this picture.
The script was written by Damian Shannon and Mark Swift. The duo’s prior horror credits include Freddy vs. Jason (2003) and Friday the 13th (2009).
Along with being one of the most anticipated movies releasing in early 2026, the marketing for Send Help has also gotten creative, with a Survivor-themed promo of Linda auditioning for the long-running reality series, and Bradley discovering and making fun of the video. This also sets up Linda’s unique survival skills and the advantage she has over Bradley once they are trapped on the island.
Send Help releases in theaters on January 30.
