Dembele hits hat-trick for France in first-half thriller

France forward Ousmane Dembele has hit a hat-trick inside 30 minutes during Les Bleus’ group stage finale against Norway.

The Paris Saint-Germain forward has been in scintillating form at the World Cup so far, and flexed his muscles once again against a heavily rotated Norway side.

His first was a fabulous effort, dancing in and out of several Norwegian players on the right-hand side before rifling a right-footed effort into the back of the net.

The second hit was even better. In a similar position, Dembele shifted the ball onto his left this time, before curling a strike into the far corner.

Norway did hit back 79 seconds after France scored their second, with Thelo Aasgaard getting on the scoresheet, but it was short-lived.

10 minutes later, Dembele had his third.

Finding himself in familiar territory, the French forward once again danced through a handful of red shirts before once more curling a left-footed strike to the far corner.

It was a well-deserved and stunning hat-trick, trumping that of Lionel Messi, who scored one himself in Argentina’s opening game of the tournament.

Now, France are firmly in the driving seat and looking on course to extend their unbeaten run, and strengthen their case to win a second title in 12 years under Didier Deschamps.
