Dahlia Leaks Hint At Ruan Mei’s Demise In Honkai: Star Rail 3.8

Leaks about the new character from Honkai: Star Rail 3.8 have been shared, and their release may represent the definitive end for one of the best characters in the game. The turn-based RPG is about to enter Version 3.7, the final patch in the Amphoreus story arc. There’s a lot of content planned for Honkai: Star Rail 3.7, in addition to the main campaign missions that will finish this year’s story arc.

The next update will also introduce the final Chrysos Heir as a playable character. Cyrene in Honkai: Star Rail is a 5-star Ice character following the Path of the Remembrance. In team comps, her role is that of a support, and she specializes in providing unique buffs to each of the existing Chrysos Heirs. Even though she will be a significant release this year, she won’t be the final one.

Early Dahlia Leaks In Honkai: Star Rail Have Been Shared

The Character May Be A Support For Firefly

Developer HoYoverse has already confirmed that The Dahlia will be released as a playable character in Version 3.8 through a series of drip marketing posts on social media. The Dahlia is a 5-star Fire character on the Path of the Nihility, also known as Constance in Honkai: Star Rail. Now, new leaks about the character have emerged, teasing what she’ll specialize in.

According to details provided by Anon Leaks, which were shared in a post on Reddit, The Dahlia can deal Super Break DMG even when an opponent’s toughness is not 0. The leak also says that The Dahlia can help Firefly recover Energy; this effect can only be triggered by both of the aforementioned units.

Another leak provided by Anon, which was also shared on Reddit, shows that The Dahlia is being internally tested in team comps with Firefly, Fugue, Lingsha, and the Harmony Trailblazer in Honkai: Star Rail. The leaker says that The Dahlia could be paired up with Boothill and Rappa, too, though Firefly is allegedly a more popular character.

Dahlia Leaks Show Ruan Mei’s Days Are Truly Over

The Support Character Is A Staple In Super Break Teams

What the leaks subtly imply is that Ruan Mei’s days may be finally over. The 5-star Ice Harmony character has been a key figure in most Super Break DMG teams since its release in 2024. While Super Break DMG has taken a hit with continuously stronger opponents, the mechanic is one of the most explosive ones during combat. Ruan Mei has been a must-have character in Firefly team comps in Honkai: Star Rail because she extends the duration of Weakness Break.

This means that Super Break DMG characters like Firefly can deal the maximum amount of damage for more turns. However, it seems like Ruan Mei’s usefulness in Super Break DMG teams has come to an end if HoYoverse itself is testing new Firefly team comps without her. For a long period, Ruan Mei was considered one of the best supports in Honkai: Star Rail, and while her use has fallen a bit, this may be the final nail in the coffin for her.
