Marc Cucurella has paid a permanent tribute to Spain manager Luis de la Fuente after helping La Roja win the 2026 World Cup.

Spain claimed their second World Cup title by defeating Argentina in the final, with Ferran Torres scoring the goal to seal victory in North America.

Cucurella, who played a key role, has now honoured his national team boss with a tattoo after fulfilling a promise he made before the competition.

The defender revealed the new ink on Instagram, showing a portrait of De la Fuente holding the World Cup trophy with the tournament’s 2026 logo in the background.

Cucurella had previously vowed to get the tattoo if Spain lifted the trophy, and he documented the entire process before unveiling the finished artwork.

Cucurella says goodbye to Chelsea

The tattoo reveal comes shortly after Cucurella also bid an emotional farewell to Chelsea following his summer move to Real Madrid.

The 28-year-old completed a £51 million transfer to the Spanish giants before the World Cup and is set to reunite with former Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho, who has returned for a second spell in charge at the Santiago Bernabeu.

In a heartfelt message to supporters, Cucurella reflected on his four years at Stamford Bridge and thanked everyone connected with the club.

“I arrived here as a young lad with the dream of winning many trophies and playing in the Champions League,” he wrote.

“We had a tough start, it’s true, but with hard work and effort we were able to turn it around.

“Thanks to this club and its high expectations today, I can honestly say that London will always be my home and you will always be part of my story.

“I won’t forget listening to my song at the stadium, the magical nights at the Bridge, the titles that I’ve won carrying this badge and all the love that you showed me.

“I now leave the club being a man. I’ve reached a lot of my dreams thanks to you and I want to thank you all for that.

“To the coaches and staff for all the advice that you gave me, to my teammates, for all that we have lived together and I won’t forget.

“To all the people working at Cobham for making me feel like I was at home from day one. I truly hope to see Chelsea up where they belong and deserve to be. Once a Blue, always a Blue.”
