Crystal Palace chairman Steve Parish reacts to horror tackle by Millwall goalkeeper Liam Roberts on Jean-Philippe Mateta (Video)

Crystal Palaces victory over Millwall in the FA Cup on Saturday had a sad feeling throughout, after Millwall goalkeeper Liam Roberts launched what should arguably be classed as an assault, rather than tackle, on Palace striker Jean-Philippe Mateta.

Mateta was rushed to the hospital with a gashed head, and Roberts was expectedly sent off.

Interestingly enough, referee Michael Oliver did not deem the foul play serious enough for a red card. Luckily, the VAR was in place at this stage. It’s merely the latest in a string of dubious on-field decisions Oliver has made this season.

Speaking to the press at halftime, Palace chairman Steve Parish was understandably appalled by what Roberts had done.
