Constantine Meets Megabonk In Wild New Co-Op Roguelike You Can Play Free On August 21

Megabonk was one of 2025’s most unexpected hit indie releases, selling a million copies in its first week on Steam and even getting nods from heavy-hitting developers such as the team at Clair Obscur‘s Sandfall Interactive. Megabonk’s solo developer vedinad kept up with bug fixes and QoL improvements on the game throughout most of the year and even rolled out a free content update eventually with a new Halloween-themed map and characters.

Unfortunately, it seems like vedinad may have moved on from Megabonk at this point, as there have been no major announcements, bug fixes, or any word on future content, leaving fans wondering what they should play next. That said, Megabonk has inspired an absolute outpouring of roguelike games attempting to capture the essence of what made it so special. And while they might be a dime a dozen, there are also some truly original hidden gems buried among those emulating the winning formula.

One such title is getting a free demo on August 21 that Megabonk fans will not want to miss, and it combines Megabonk‘s roguelike gameplay style with the occult, demon-fighting exploits of anti-heroes like Constantine and Hellboy (via Steam).

This New Roguelike Co-Op’s Free Demo Drops August 21

Send Them To Hell is an upcoming co-op roguelike from solo developer cbgames and publisher Sojaplin Studios that’s about to make serious waves in the indie scene, releasing on October 30, 2026. IT features highly requested Megabonk features such as 4-player co-op and a massive selection of maps, and it goes far beyond just copying the Megabonk or Vampire Survivors formula.

Send Them To Hell includes dozens of weapon options, quirky characters, a trove of unlockable content, both an Adventure and Endless Mode, dedicated leaderboards, weekly challenges, character customization options, and everything you need to develop your own game-breaking builds.

The premise is simple, allowing players to join their friends to team up against the forces of evil. Satan is gathering demons over Earth, and it’s your job to literally Send Them To Hell, either going it alone in Solo Mode or teaming up with up to three other friends in a seamless co-op experience.

The game goes far beyond just recreating what made Megabonk special, scaling up just about every aspect of what gamers love from the roguelike genre and making it unique and original, while also introducing brand-new gameplay mechanics and adding its own distinctive flair. And according to developers, there will be a free demo going live on August 21 that gives players just a glimpse at what’s to come.

Send Them To Hell Could Be 2026’s Megabonk

Having played an embarrassing number of hours in Megabonk and other roguelike Bullet Heaven-style games, I got a chance to check out Send Them To Hell for myself courtesy of developers at Sojaplin Studios. The game is completely addictive and strikes a very similar chord as its spiritual predecessor, with the same crude humor and off-the-wall gameplay. It’s a truly chaotic roguelike experience that Bullet Hell/Heaven gamers should wishlist ASAP, and I’d highly recommend checking out the demo when it goes live later this month.

While Megabonk is in a league of its own and may never be bested, the surge of Megabonk-inspired roguelikes (i.e., 3D Vampire Survivor-likes) is a testament to its staying power, and in my view is an amazing trend for the indie scene and gamers in general, giving players a huge selection of incredible games to try. If you’re looking for 2026’s next big indie roguelike sensation, Send Them To Hell needs to be on your radar.
