Chelsea have been told to pay around €65 million to purchase Borussia Dortmund winger Jamie Gittens this summer, according to Sky Sport Germany.

The Blues were determined to land the winger before the Club World Cup transfer deadline, but they were unable to do so. They failed with separate bids for the winger with the highest being €55m.

The west London giants have not given up on the young attacker and they plan to return for him later this summer. Dortmund want €65m, but the Blues believe they can secure his services for less.

Gittens is one of the best emerging wingers in the German top flight. The 20-year-old registered 12 goals and five assists from 48 appearances in all competitions for Dortmund last season.

He had a bright start to the campaign under manager Nuri Sahin, but struggled under Niko Kovac who changed the formation from 4-2-3-1 to 3-5-2 or 3-4-3 after his arrival last winter.

Gittens is much comfortable in a 4-2-3-1 system and he could get the chance to prosper in a similar set-up with the Blues next season.
