Chelsea are expected to enter the transfer market for a new midfielder after the departure of Andrey Santos to Manchester United.

Santos played second fiddle to Moises Caicedo and Enzo Fernandez in midfield last term, and he has now agreed to join United.

The Red Devils have finalised a deal worth £50m with the Blues and the midfielder is expected to undergo his medical in the next 24 hours.

Amidst this, the Blues have already started the hunt for a new midfielder, but the focus could be on landing someone with ample experience.

There are no standout targets at the moment and discussions will be held internally before making an approach for a particular player.

Meanwhile, the Blues are still unclear over the future of midfielder Enzo Fernandez despite Real Madrid pulling out of the race to land him.

Fernandez still believes he could secure a move to another Champions League club and may seek to do so after the World Cup with Argentina.
