Chelsea to land Buonanotte on loan

Chelsea are set to land the signature of Brighton & Hove Albion playmaker Facundo Buonanotte on loan, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The Blues have already signed Joao Pedro from the Seagulls this summer, and they recently tried to land Julio Enciso from the South Coast outfit.

Chelsea planned to loan Enciso to sister club Strasbourg, but a deal did not materialise in the end due to concerns over his long-term knee injury.

Romano now reports that the Blues are close to signing Buonanotte instead. The Argentine has already agreed personal terms with the club.

He will travel to west London for his medical before a season-long loan. The Blues are still hopeful of convincing Brighton to accept a buy clause.

The arrival of Buonanotte could end the club’s pursuit of an attacking midfielder, having let Xavi Simons join Tottenham Hotspur.

They have been heavily linked with Barcelona’s Fermin Lopez, but the Catalan giants are reluctant to part ways with their graduate.
