Maignan wanted by Chelsea

Chelsea are confident that an agreement can be reached with AC Milan to sign 30-year-old France international goalkeeper Mike Maignan in the January transfer window. It is widely reported that the Blues’ manager Enzo Maresca is a huge fan of the former PSG and Lille player, and is ready to ask his board to spend around 40 million euros to sign the 6 foot 3 shot stopper.

Chelsea have struggled in the goalkeeping department in recent times and current first choice goalie is not seen as the long-term option for the Blues. Since arriving at Stamford Bridge from Premier League rivals Brighton in 2023, Sanchez has played  51 times in the Premier League and has, on occasion, impressed when given a opportunity. But the Blues do not see him as the long-term solution to their goalkeeping issues.

It is understood that AC Milan would even be open to a swap deal involving Martinez to bring Maignan to the club.

Maignan is one of the best goalkeepers in Europe, is currently France’s number 1 keeper, and has also attracted some interest from Manchester United.
