Blade Runner‘s modern revival has given fans a lot to look forward to in the coming months, particularly with the release of the Amazon Prime television series, Blade Runner 2099, which officially launches on November 25, 2026. The new series moves forward in the timeline another 50 years after Blade Runner 2049, introducing Cora, a fugitive who assumes the identity of a Blade Runner, played by Hunter Schafer.
While 2099 is easily the project getting the most attention at the moment, many fans are still holding on to hope for the seemingly abandoned video game, Blade Runner 2033: Labyrinth, a narrative-driven experience from Annapurna Interactive that would have taken place between the original film and 2049. The studio faced a massive upset back in 2024, and the project seems to have been put on ice as a result, though no official cancellation has been announced.
However, there’s hope yet for Blade Runner fans looking for a unique new experience in the retro-futuristic dystopia, as a brand-new project is arriving to North American audiences in 2027 (via Alcon).
Blade Runner: The Immersive Experience is a North American location-based, “multisensory” production being co-developed by Montreal-based Behaviour Interactive and PHI Studio, in collaboration with franchise rights-holder Alcon Entertainment. Rather than a conventional game or exhibition, it is designed to place visitors inside Blade Runner’s dystopian world through interactive environments, digital scenography, and immersive sound, while exploring the franchise’s signature themes about humanity and technology.
Behaviour Interactive, founded in 1992, is Canada’s largest independent game developer and publisher, best known for Dead by Daylight and decades of development work with companies including Microsoft, Sony and EA, but it has also recently been expanding into location-based immersive entertainment.
“Created by Alcon Entertainment, the Blade Runner universe is distinguished by its extraordinary visual and narrative richness, with layered meanings, atmospheres, and storylines that offer a uniquely compelling foundation for immersive storytelling. In collaboration with Behaviour Interactive, we are co-creating an experience that draws on this depth to meet a dual ambition: delivering an experience that fully resonates with fans, while remaining accessible and deeply engaging for new audiences.” — Julie Tremblay, Executive Director, PHI Studio
PHI Studio, launched in 2019 as part of Montreal arts organization PHI, specializes in XR, interactive installations, and large-scale immersive productions such as the upcoming Blade Runner installment, using state-of-the-art software, scenography, and emerging technologies to give audiences brand-new, hands-on experiences with their favorite IPs.
The experience is scheduled to premiere in North America in 2027, initially appearing in several cities, though no specific cities, venues, ticket dates, or an exact opening date have been announced yet. PHI’s current project page still lists it as “in development” and says further details are expected soon. In the meantime, Blade Runner fans will be counting down the days for November 25 for the debut of 2099 to see what’s next for the iconic sci-fi franchise.
