Looking to extend on their recent purple patch, JaPS will welcome Ekenas to Jarvenpaa on Friday afternoon.

Starting with the hosts, putting in what was another gritty performance last time out as they snatched a 0-0 stalemate away at PK-35, JaPS have come skyrocketing away from what was a looming relegation scrap. Enjoying what has been their brightest run so far this calendar year, Teemu Kankkunen’s side are enjoying what has become quite the purple patch. With the mood in their camp at a red-hot high, the Blues have registered 10 points from their previous four Ykkosliiga appearances and they will be smelling the chance to lay down another marker here. Knowing that they can move within touching distance of the top-half, JaPS will also be excited by their recent defensive steel. Getting August underway with a stellar 3-0 romp against KaPa, Friday’s hosts have not shipped a single strike in over 300 minutes of action. It should also be noted, Kankkunen’s men have suffered just a single Ykkosliiga defeat in front of their own supporters since the start of May.

As for the visitors, while JaPS might be enjoying what has been a real purple patch, the same cannot be said for a struggling Ekenas. Last seen putting in another toothless performance as they slumped to a routine 2-0 defeat at home against Lahti, Christian Sund’s side have come tumbling down the Ykkosliiga table. Enduring what has quickly become a real nightmare, the Greens have now lost all of their previous five consecutive appearances and they have continued to show some glaring issues at both ends of the pitch. Signing off July with a 2-0 loss at the hands of TPS Turku, Friday’s guests have lost those five consecutive showdowns by an aggregate score of 13-6. Despite getting July underway in the midst of a real flurry, Ekenas have come crashing back down to earth in a worrying fashion. Given what has been a huge recent gulf in class, we are backing a home double chance here.
