With Grand Theft Auto 6 looming on the horizon, now feels like the perfect time to revisit Rockstar’s magnum opus, Red Dead Redemption 2. It’s a game with so much to offer, serving as both an exhilaratingly compelling narrative experience and the ultimate Wild West simulator with the potential to roleplay an entirely different existence within a world far from our own. As such, even after eight years, Red Dead Redemption 2 remains an easy option to return to, and a must-play for anyone eager to scratch that open-world itch.
However, even with it being one of Rockstar’s greatest games, Red Dead Redemption 2 has its limitations. Were one to pick it up for the first time today, they’d find months, if not years, of potential content to experience and enjoy. Yet, for long-term fans who started playing it all the way back in 2018, even its vast wealth of entertainment expires eventually. Fortunately, that’s where fans come in handy, as a brand-new RDR2 project seeks to overhaul the experience in an attempt to breathe at least a little more life into it before GTA 6 finally steals its spotlight.
Red Dead Redemption 2’s PC modding community has always been fairly active, producing transformative mods that completely overhaul the base experience to cater to everyone’s whims and fancies. Should you desire a deeper roleplaying experience, there is a mod for you; do you want RDR2 with next-gen visuals? You guessed it, there’s a mod for that too. Feeling like combat is getting a little stale? Fear not, as a mod will surely help fix that predicament.
Red Dead Redemption 2’s best mods have helped the game enjoy a long-lasting legacy by addressing the few minor wrinkles Rockstar never fixed and by adding the many requested features it didn’t have time to add. Adding to this wealth of transformative projects is a brand-new mod titled Beecher’s Hope Reunion. This, as the title suggests, revamps the new camp added at the very end of the game, Beecher’s Hope, and does so to a far greater degree than one would expect.
Available via Nexus Mods, Beecher’s Hope Reunion adds Sadie, Charles, Arthur, Lenny, Sean, and Mary Linton to the camp. It gives them more lifelike interactions with both the player and each other, the ability to head out on adventures of their own, routines and assorted activities to complete around the camp, and the ability to play music by the campfire and complement one another. Players can even recruit these characters to serve as their companions, who will follow them around and fight by their side (Mary Linton is the only exception).
Characters in Beecher’s Hope Reunion will also react to you if you antagonize them. Should you do it once, they may go quiet on you and stop interacting with you. Do it again, and you won’t be able to recruit them for some time. The revamped Beecher’s Hope (which takes place in an alternate version of events that changes the ending of the game) becomes available after completing the mission American Venom. It’s a fun little mod that just adds a little more to the endgame and further enhances the roleplaying aspect of Red Dead Redemption 2.
