Atletico Madrid have completed the signing of Napoli striker Giacomo Raspadori.

The Italy international has signed a five-year contract with Atletico after passing his medical.

Raspadori becomes Atletico’s 10th signing of an extremely busy transfer window for Diego Simeone’s men as they look to challenge Barcelona for the LaLiga title.

Having initially joined Napoli on loan from Sassuolo in 2022, Raspadori joined on a permanent deal a year later. He scored 18 goals in three seasons for Napoli, while also providing 10 assists, helping them to the Scudetto in 2022-23 and 2024-25.

Similar success with Atletico may be harder to come by given the intense competition provided by Barca and arch rivals Real Madrid.

But Atletico will hope his addition to a talented attack will give them increased potency in forward areas. Raspadori joins Alexander Sorloth, Antoine Griezmann and Julian Alvarez among the options for an Atletico side that scored 68 LaLiga goals last season, the fourth-most in the division, but 34 fewer than the 102 Barca plundered en route to the title.

Having rounded off their pre-season campaign with a 2-0 win over Newcastle United, Atletico begin their LaLiga season at Espanyol on Sunday.
