Aston Villa loan full-back Garcia to Getafe as Gomes rumours swirl

Aston Villa have loaned defender Andres Garcia to Getafe for the 2026-27 season.

The 23-year-old full-back joined Villa from Levante in January 2025, but has made just 18 appearances for Unai Emery’s side so far.

Garcia’s only start last term came on the final day of the season against Manchester City, though he was replaced at half-time during their win at the Etihad Stadium.

He made just one substitute appearance during Villa’s successful Europa League campaign, though could play a bigger role for Getafe, who have qualified for the Conference League.

It is set to be a busy summer for Villa, who finished fourth in the Premier League last season.

They have already seen Youri Tielemans join Manchester United, while Juventus have made known their interest in goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez. Paris Saint-Germain are said to be closing in on a deal to sign Lucas Digne.

Villa are also reportedly close to securing the signature of highly-rated Johan Manzambi from Freiburg, despite Newcastle United’s interest in the 20-year-old.

Reports have also emerged suggesting the Villans are nearing the signing of Joao Gomes from relegated Wolves for £38m.

Midfield additions will be key for Villa, who not only lost Tielemans, but also saw Amadou Onana suffer a long-term knee injury at the World Cup.
