Assassin’s Creed: Codename Hexe is officially still little more than a logo, but information from less official sources has started to seep through the cracks at an increasingly fast pace. Previously, details about key features like pre-orders have leaked, and basic information surrounding the story and concept of the game has been around for a while.

To recap, Assassin’s Creed Hexe is expected to follow a protagonist named Anika during the height of the European witch trials in the Holy Roman Empire. Now, a first look at Anika has arrived, although the source behind the image has already been taken down.

As reported by GameRant, the new image of Anika came courtesy of Rogue | TX on X, the source behind the recent batch of Assassin’s Creed: Codename Hexe rumors and other Ubisoft leaks. The image depicted Anika from behind, showing dark red hair tied in a bun and a hooded outfit. Anike appears to be inside a vault or tomb, which would certainly track with the adventures of most Assassin’s Creed protagonists. A second, blurrier image depicted a bald man from behind, but it’s not yet clear what character that image would connect to.

Unfortunately, Rogue | TX’s X account has now been suspended, although this does add some additional believability to the leak. While most leaks tend to pass by without issue on X, sharing actual images as opposed to information runs a higher risk of legal trouble.

If nothing else, the new images further support the idea that we might be on the cusp of some official Assassin’s Creed: Codename Hexe reveals. Ubisoft’s recent Assassin’s Creed marketing was focused on the release of Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag Resynced, and now that the remake is out of the way, it could be time to move on to the full reveal of the next mainline game.

Hexe isn’t expected to arrive this year, though, so there’s no guarantee that Ubisoft won’t wait a while longer before letting fans in on all of its secrets. For the time being, fans can at least pore over the variety of leaks and rumors and speculate about what’s in store. If Ubisoft does it right, the alleged darker tone and comparatively linear design of Assassin’s Creed: Codename Hexe could be a refreshing experience after the recent RPGs in the franchise.
