Australia women’s vice-captain Ashleigh Gardner has become the subject of intense public attention after allegations made by her estranged wife, Monica Wright, surfaced on social media. The controversy follows reports about the breakdown of the couple’s marriage, with Wright accusing the Australian all-rounder of being unfaithful with fellow Australia batter Georgia Voll. Neither Gardner nor Voll has publicly responded to the allegations.
Marriage reportedly deteriorated during World Cup campaign
Gardner and Wright tied the knot in April 2025 after several years together, having first met through a dating app in 2020. Their relationship appeared to progress steadily, with the couple announcing their engagement in April 2024 before exchanging vows in a ceremony held in the Blue Mountains.
However, according to a report published by the Daily Mail, the marriage began to unravel during Australia’s Women’s ODI World Cup campaign in India last year. The report claimed Wright became concerned about changes in Gardner’s behaviour while she was away with the national team and decided to travel to India during the tournament.
Sources quoted in the report alleged that tensions between the couple became evident after Wright’s arrival, describing the atmosphere as difficult and suggesting Gardner “didn’t seem like herself” throughout that period.
Following Australia’s return home, the report stated that the pair had a private conversation in Sydney in which Gardner allegedly explained why things had felt different during the tour. The discussion reportedly left Wright deeply hurt, with the marriage breaking down soon afterwards. The report further claimed that the couple separated in November last year, although news of their split did not enter the public domain until this week.
The situation escalated significantly on Monday when Wright took to social media after reports about the separation began circulating.
Sharing a screenshot of the Daily Mail article, Wright also posted a photograph of Australian batter Georgia Voll and alleged: “This is who my wife cheated on me with.” The post quickly gained traction online, prompting widespread discussion across social media platforms and within the cricket community.
As of now, Gardner has not issued any public statement addressing Wright’s allegations. Similarly, Voll has not commented on the accusation or responded publicly to the claims made against her.
With no official response from either cricketer, the allegations remain unverified and are based solely on Wright’s public statements and media reports.
