Dowman returns to Arsenal training

Arsenal wonderkid Max Dowman has returned to full training ahead of the FA Cup fourth round tie against Wigan Athletic at the Emirates Stadium tomorrow.

The 16-year-old was out for the last two months with an ankle ligament concern, which did not require surgery. He has recuperated well and was back in training in today’s session.

Manager Mikel Arteta did not provide a clear fitness update on Dowman earlier this week, but the youngster could have an outside chance of making the matchday squad on Sunday.

Bukayo Saka recently returned from a hip problem, and the Englishman could start on the right wing against the Latics in order to boost his match fitness for the league games ahead.

Noni Madueke has been the immediate deputy to Saka on the right flank, and it remains to be seen whether Dowman will get the opportunity to make his injury comeback against Wigan.

Arsenal are clear favourites to beat the Latics. The fans will expect a huge margin victory before the league trip to Wolverhampton Wanderers on Wednesday night.
