Guimaraes set for Arsenal move

Arsenal have reached an agreement to land Newcastle United midfielder Bruno Guimaraes this summer, according to L’Equipe.

The Gunners have earmarked Guimaraes as their prime target for the transfer window and have been in constant contact with the Magpies.

It is now revealed that an initial package worth £77m plus bonuses has been agreed with the Magpies to secure the 28-year-old’s signature.

Guimaraes has already agreed on personal terms with the Gunners, and it appears only a matter of time before he makes the switch.

Arsenal are now looking to complete the necessary formalities for his transfer and want him in the squad before the friendly in Dublin.

Guimaraes was initially expected to report with Newcastle for pre-season training in Spain, but this is unlikely to happen any longer, as per reports.

The Brazilian has had no training sessions since the World Cup, but could still make a cameo in the friendly against Real Betis on August 5.
