French youngster on Arsenal transfer radar

According to Fabrizio Romano, Arsenal have been in contact with French club Rennes with regard to a potential transfer move for 20-year-old centre-back Jeremy Jacquet, currently playing for Rennes. Last campaign, Jacquet spent time on loan with Clermont and caught the eye as he also made his debut for France’s under-21 side shortly thereafter.

Jacquet is a hugely talented young defender that hails from Bondy in France, the same place that current centre-back William Saliba was born. In fact, Arsenal see many similarities between Jacquet and Saliba, and are hoping to bring the 6 foot 2 defender to the Emirates as an understudy to Saliba.

The central defender only recently signed a new contract at the French club until June 2029 but Arsenal want to move quickly to beat their opposition to sign the Rennes starlet. It is understood that Arsenal could allow Rennes to keep Jacquet on loan for the upcoming 2025-26 season and then eventually bring him to join the first-team squad next summer.

Should Arsenal succeed in their pursuit of Jacquet, they will beat Paris St Germain to the youngster’s signature.
